Brother

Have you forgotten so soon, That we were once one, Living as would a family, Having the same hands Wearing the same face, And most importantly, The same skin colour? Certainly, you have forgotten. Aah! Your crossing the oceans, And the change in climate, And food and others, Has put strange ideas into your…

My Way

Certainly, I’ve walked this street before, on a day like today. It was maybe around three or four, and really sunny all the way. Dressed in blue, with a book or two, I was sauntering towards the bay. Soliloquy

My Friends, Tell. Tell of the secrets you’ve heard From oblivious souls Which have walked this road And — while enthralled by this picturesque scene and the soothing caresses of the winds fanned by your co-conspiring leaves, and further comforted by their shades against the blazing sun — were bewitched into soliloquy After soliloquy. Pray, tell!

Dare to Dream

“Father, are the poor allowed to dream?” “Of course son, why ever not?” “Then I’d dream me a better life.” “Are you starving; do you need clothing?” “No, but I wish our donkey was a horse.” “A horse does not have the patience of a donkey.” “I’d dream our small farm was a large orchard.” “But we…

The Moon

I often see it clearly Its mysteries lying bare And although it looks so far away It’s actually still quite near The Sun may be its master And flaunt itself all noon But at night you find selenophiles All gaping at the Moon

Peace

I hide by day and roam at night To live in peace and quiet But nosy humans often delight In bringing me disquiet

A Mother Would

Nine months of joyful pain I went through, with you in my womb Through it all Every time you kicked I consoled my widowed self That you’d be worth it all Who’d love you more? Bringing you forth into the world Was hard for me, as a single parent, What followed Was harder…

Artlessness

And it was one of the silliest stories ever told From beginning to end, it made no sense It could be that trouble is already a-brewing With or without pride and fortune Imagine, the cat had no whiskers! The leaves have begun to dry It didn’t fit, so they had to resize Children will forever be curious…
